One thing that I like about Valentine’s Day is that it can be celebrate by everybody: friends, children and lovers. I remember when I was watching Sex and The City (yes, I was a big fan!!!) and Charlotte’s daughter gave a Valentine’s card to Carrie. When we talk about soulmates I believe there are no rules. A friend that catches what you are thinking could be your soulmate. A daughter or a son that understands you and supports you more than anybody else, also could be your soulmate.
For this Valentine’s Day we decided to create a celebration for adults and children. We brought that romantic couple from the eighties – Love is …- and their amazing quotes to inspire us. At the same time, this cute couple reminds us of our childhood with their innocence, friendship and natural beauty.
To bring them to life, we hand-painted a classic picture of the famous couple on a fondant cake using edible paint. Fondant heart balloons were added on the top of the cake to give a 3D touch to the design. Hearts were also present in French macarons and Oreos filled with Nutella. Simple, but no less beautiful, were the heart chocolate cookies and truffles. Heart shaped sugar cookies with edible gold scents, also hand-painted, brought the classic and romantic style to the décor (did you know that in the past people used to paint cakes with real gold-dust?).
We hope you like this cozy celebration for family and friends. In my case it turned so special when my 3 year old twins looked at the dessert table and told my husband:” Mommy did a great job”. Aren’t they the best Valentine ever?
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
